WHAT ARE CELLULAR SHADES?

Cellular Shades — or Honeycomb Shades or Cellular Blinds — are window shades that are specially designed with layers of fabric cells that expand and contract when the shade is opened and closed. The cells trap air, making the shades great for regulating your home’s interior temperatures and keeping your energy bills down. Each style of our Cellular Shades is available in a selection of neutral colors to complement your home décor.

TYPES OF CELLULAR SHADES WE OFFER

At The Shade Store, we offer three types of Cellular Shades:

Light Filtering Cellular Shades
Create comforting environments in your home with soft natural light. Available in a 3/4" single cell option and 3/8" double cell option designed with narrower side-by-side cells.

Blackout Cellular Shades
Block out 99% of natural light and achieve complete privacy. Perfect for bedrooms and media rooms, and available in single and double cell options.

Day/Night Cellular Shades
Transition your window shades from light filtering to blackout with a simple pull. Single Cell option available.

CELLULAR SHADE UPGRADE OPTIONS

Enhance your Cellular Shades with our selection of custom upgrade options:

Top Down Bottom Up Cellular Shades
Lower your shades from the top or raise them from the bottom for even more privacy and light control. This is a double-corded shade option, in which the left cord controls the top rail and the right cord controls the bottom rail.

Cordless Cellular Shades
Open and close your shades with a gentle pull — no cords, chains or strings.

Motorized Cellular Shades
Synchronize multiple window shades, choose your own customized settings, and even schedule timers with your remote, smartphone, tablet, or home automation system.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR CELLULAR SHADES

Make your custom Cellular Shades work perfectly for your space with our easy customization options:

3/4" Single Cell Cellular Shades
Using an insulating honeycomb effect, this window shade solution can reduce energy bills by up to 30%.

3/8" Double Cell Cellular Shades
Crafted with narrower, side-by-side cells, this window shade solution provides double the insulation power of our single cell option.

Inside Mount
Your Cellular Shades are installed inside the window frame for a clean, built-in look.

Outside Mount
Your Cellular Shades are installed outside the window frame for a taller, more dramatic appearance.

Multiple On 1
Two Cellular Shades hang from one headrail and operate independently. This is a great option for covering large windows and doors.

What is the difference between single cell and double cell Cellular Shades?
While both single- and double-cell Cellular Shades help create an insulation barrier for the window, the way they work is reflected in their names. Single-cell Cellular Shades utilize one row of honeycomb cells to trap air, while double-cell Cellular Shades have two layers for added insulation. Thanks to that second layer, double-cell Cellular Shades offer even more temperature, light and noise control, and help block out even more UV light.

What is the difference between honeycomb and cellular shades?
Cellular Shades are known as honeycomb shades due to their design. When viewing both single- and double-cell Cellular Shades from the side, you’ll notice a honeycomb-like pattern, designed to help with insulation. These honeycombs create pockets that trap air, creating a barrier between the window and your space and providing insulation for energy and sound. Honeycomb Cellular Shades are one of the best ways to add energy efficiency to your home.
