Our Story

The Shade Store is a family-run, custom window treatments company with a rich heritage in luxury textiles and interior design. We're changing the way people shop for treatments by granting unprecedented access to our workrooms - the finest in the USA.
Over 65 Years of ExperienceDesigned + Assembled in the USASatisfaction Guaranteed

In 1946, our grandfather Milton and his brother Jack opened a small fabric shop in Mt. Vernon, NY. The concept was simple: offer customers great quality, style and value. We spent our summers working the counter, learning these principles firsthand. Ultimately, the most important lesson was this: offer customers something unique and back it up with world-class customer service. That’s what The Shade Store is about.

We wouldn't be able to guarantee quality, exclusivity and expedited delivery if we depended on a third party to make our shades. To ensure only the finest custom window treatment arrives at your door, we manage our own inventory and oversee every aspect of the production process. All products are proudly designed and assembled in the USA by The Shade Store Team.

Plants A Tree

Since 2011, our partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation has resulted in over 40,000 trees planted in our national forests. This year, our efforts will support the Superior National Forest Project in northern Minnesota. Benefits of the project include clean drinking water and an improved habitat for wildlife such as the osprey, gray wolf and bald eagle.
