In 1946 our grandfather Milton and his brother Jack opened up a modest fabric shop in a storefront in Mt. Vernon, New York. In the beginning, seamstresses worked tirelessly with a simple needle and thread to craft custom creations for customers eager for high quality, made to order products. In time, the business grew and eventually more family was taken into the fold, helping to provide a higher volume of finished goods to a growing clientele.
The Shade Store was founded in 2005 with the idea of bringing the same style and excellence to an equally discerning, but even larger audience. Our goal from the beginning has been to follow Grandpa Milton’s model of providing nothing short of extraordinary service, unparalleled quality and tremendous value.
