Please welcome guest blogger Anthony D’Argenzio of Zio and Sons.
At Zio and Sons, we strive to create unique interior style that’s filled with character, and purpose. Our latest project is the sister property to our celebrated studio and vacation rental, This Old Hudson, called This Old Hudson Residences. The Hudson, New York property offers long-term rentals for full-time residents. The units are located within a historic, 1915 building. Each of the three-bedroom units have been updated with contemporary amenities, but we made sure to retain the architectural character and vintage details of the home.
Designing and renovating this massive project was extremely time consuming. Fortunately, The Shade Store made selecting window treatments both simple and enjoyable. We opted for fabrics from the Nate Berkus for The Shade Store collection, due to the natural color palette and timeless patterns to perfectly showcase our historic property.

For the living areas and bathrooms, we went with luxurious yet relaxed Roman Shades. For the kitchens and baths, we opted for functional light-filtering Roller Shades. In addition to the beautiful and high quality product, the Shade Store team offered amazing customer service from start to finish. They promptly sent our swatches and quickly answered technical questions. The measure and install team were skilled, friendly and well-trained.
As a designer, I can’t begin to express how nice it was to work with people like The Shade Store who understand just what it takes to get a job done. We are immensely pleased with our new treatments and The Shade Store delivered the perfect finishing touch to our lengthy renovation. Today, our new rental units have a truly special and unique look, which perfectly complements the vision I set out to achieve.

ABOUT THIS OLD HUDSON
This Old Hudson is a rental property located in Hudson, New York, a quick train ride away from the bustle of New York City. Launched in summer 2016 and designed by Zio and Sons, the units in this 100 year-old property are available for both short-term stays as well as creative content studio. The idea originated with our own need for a space that could serve multiple purposes: a weekend retreat, a creative gathering place, a place to make photos and films.
Since opening, This Old Hudson has been featured in the pages of Architectural Digest, Condé Nast Traveler, Domino Magazine and Country Living, among other major shelter magazines; brands including Anthropologie, Ralph Lauren Home, Eye Swoon, and Vogue have used the space to stage photo shoots.
