1. Will these shades help insulate my windows?

Cellular Shades have long been regarded as premier energy saving shade. The design of a Cellular Shade is such the it actually can trap the air in the cells and provide insulation, light blockage and UV protection.
TIP: If insulation is a top priority, our 3/8" Double Cellular Shade is a top recommendation. The double layer of cells traps twice the air and maximum energy efficiency.

2. Are these shades easy to operate?

Cellular Shades in general are easy to operate. Our standard control is easy to use and will allow you to operate your shades consistently and with little effort. Our continuous loop option is an excellent choice for larger shades.
TIP: Typically speaking we would say its worth considering a continuous loop if:
  • Shades are over 60"wide and/or 72" long
  • Shades will be in difficult to reach areas
  • Shades that will be opened and closed very frequently

3. Can this shade block out all the light in my room?

The short answer is not really, however, it can block most natural light from coming in. The level of light blockage and privacy you will get from a Cellular Shade is mostly the result of the material you select. We offer several black out materials for you to choose from. Keep in mind that if you are going to be mounting the shade within the window [inside mount] there will be a deduction we will take on the width to ensure that the shade functions properly and this small "gap" will subsequently let some light in the sides. Selecting an outside mount will help alleviate some of the light seepage however then the shade will be projecting off the wall and there will still be some light still coming in.
Tip: The only way to get a true "cave effect" and block all of the light is to go "hotel-style" and treat your windows with blackout draperies that close and a cornice above [to prevent light seepage from the top].
