All For the Kids // Supporting ArtWorks

Here at The Shade Store, we teamed up with ArtWorks, The Naomi Cohain Foundation. ArtWorks provides children and young adults suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses, and their siblings, access to creative and performing arts programs that encourage the use of the creative process as a vehicle for healing, communication, self-expression and personal development.

This month we are supporting ArtWork’s annual auction event here in New York in order to bring awareness around advocacy of art as a means of healing and expression.

Founded in 2002, ArtWorks was created by Daniela Mendelsohn, who was inspired by the life of her cousin Naomi Cohain. “We are thrilled to have The Shade Store as a sponsor of our 5th Annual Art Auction Benefit,” says Daniela. “This event is our largest fundraiser of the year with all proceeds directly benefitting our programs. As a grass roots non-profit organization, the support of our community is incredibly important to us. Together, we are able to transform children’s lives by connecting them with the power of the arts during a very challenging, stressful, and painful time in their lives.”

During the event, guests will enjoy great music, food and cocktails while bidding on silent and live auctions items — featuring 6-month gym and yoga memberships, apparel from Tory Burch, Charlotte Ronson, Helmut Lang, Sophomore, & Free People, a Theory clutch, a Coach handbag, a Kiehl’s gift basket, Tickets to Mama!Mia and The Late Show with David Letterman, plus much more. In addition the auction includes original artwork created by the kids. Proceeds from the fundraiser support all ArtWorks’ programs.
